A Play on Gauge
With a little help from your friend at Elgin Knit Works, Sandshore is a sweater that even a beginner can knit. What makes this such a wonderful sweater is that it is knitted at a loose gauge on a big needle. This results in an airy fabric that knits up quickly. If you purchase the pattern at the shop you will get our notes on the pattern. In addition an “After this Row” cheat sheet will be available to purchase that will keep track of every row and the stitch count.
For the more experienced knitters, the Catch and Release also offers a play on gauge by calling for a fingering weight yarn knitted on a size 10 needle. This creates a magical fabric that even when knitted in a wool the garment feels light and summery. The chevron shaping on the back flatters everyone’s figure and because it is a top-down it can be made longer or shorter.
Both sweaters are made up and in the shop for you to see and try on. The beauty of a knit-together is that it comes with lots of support. We will help you with gauge and have prepared a cheat sheet to help you stay on track. We are also happy to help you do fittings throughout the summer during this special knit-along series!
